Walking Dead
Not just because it was -51 (degrees F) over the weekend… but because I finished “Walking Dead” book four of the Walker Papers… by CE Murphy.
Finished it last night. LOVED IT.
Had to go out and buy a donut today and lick off the frosting. Okay. I couldn’t do it. I tried. Too sweet. Plus I like the idea of the cinnamon swirl being intermixed with the frosting.

finished Bone Garden
Tuesday - late Tuesday, I finished the Bone Garden. Hey! This is not one of the Rizzoli and Isles books… but Wow. What a lovely story. I wouldn’t normally recommend her work, she is a fantastic writer, but grim. However this book has a lovely interchange between an imagined past set in a very real 1800’s Boston and the present.
A great read!

Gideon's Corpse
Early yesterday I finished Gideon’s Corpse by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. There were some passages that were laugh out loud funny. I found myself giggling hours later… I’ll be passing this book on to Patti who turned me on to Preston/Child in the first place.

Dang it!
Don’t ask if you don’t want to know. I just got my Vera Bradley catalog for SPRING! … I dutifully checked: where are the bags made… First couple of pages, I could not find anything which said where they were made. So, I went and grabbed one of my lovelies… Turned it inside out. “Made in China.” Oh Man! … So it goes. No more VB for me… Of...

Seen Project Runway?
Just like they say in Project Runway “EDIT!” … I may have a small problem. I don’t think I’m putting five credits worth of info into a three credit course…
It just could be that I have to EDIT some of the links and commentary and support material and resources I am providing for my course.
Sigh. MY COURSE. That’s a nice phrase…

Just finished
Okay, it was two days ago… but I finished Laura Anne Gillman’s “Tricks of the Trade” http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51NCJ5AaXgL._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA300_SH20_OU01_.jpg
I’m thinking that Tumblr is a good way to tell you about books… since I’m not updating my personal website oh so much.
I also finished...

What's a DTM?
A DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) is a person who THINKS about starting a speaker’s bureau in Fairbanks, but realizes that she’s supposed to be taking it easy.
DTM is the culmination of awards you may achieve. You begin with working toward becoming a Competent Communicator. From there you’ll see several other options.
I’m just tooting.

Make a change
Maybe I’m not into the hundred days concept… but I believe in making a change. I think starting at home is a great idea.

Ode to David K (or, I should sweep in here)
I’m in the bathroom. I think, “I should sweep in here.” Dang. David is whispering in my ear… from twenty years ago: ‘as soon as you see something wrong you should fix it.’
Yes. So, I shake out the rugs, pick everything up off of the floor and I sweep. Then, because it is swept, I grab a used bath towel, a used kitchen sink (for washing dishes) towel, the Pine...

Jan 1 - great start!
Yesterday was a lazy day. It was beautiful! It started out slow and pretty much kept on that way all day.
Why tell you? Why share it with everyone?
When I went to the store with no rush, no objective, a few coupons and a VERY SHORT LIST, I was able to check labels. I didn’t buy anything from China. I was standing in the housewares aisle contemplating a cup… ‘Well, china comes...
